Archived Product Installation Instructions for Your Cadillac engine

The following are archived installation instruction documents for your convenience.
These are instructions deprecated / obsolete products, previous versions with slightly different installation procedures than the current version, etc.
Many of these files are in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Most newer computers and web browsers have built-in PDF viewers, but if you need one, you can get a viewer for free at Adobe.com

Stage I S Shaft Rocker Assemly Installation Instructions (PDF)
Basic instructions for installing our Stage 1 Shaft Rocker assembly and setting lifter preload.
This is the current version of the Stage I Rockers we are selling at this time. A similar assembly has been sold by both us (as Stage 1), and by other vendors under various names, over the years.
If you have a full shaft rocker assembly with stamped steel rocker arms, and a solid shaft, with studs and nuts holding the shaft supports to the heads, this is probably what you have.

Stage I B Shaft Rocker Assemly Installation Instructions (PDF)
If you have a full shaft rocker assembly with stamped steel rocker arms, and a solid shaft, with bolts holding the shaft supports to the heads, this is probably what you have.

Billet Aluminum R4 AC Bracket Kit Instructions (PDF)
Instructions for installing the Cad Company biillet aluminum bracket kit for using the R4 AC compressor.
This version (current) has a 3-piece cradle that does not bolt to the intake manifold. The original version uses a similar front plate that mounts in a similar fashion, but has an arm that mounts to the rear of the compressor instead of the 3 piece cradle. We have been unable to find a copy of the original installation instructions for this version.
The original version has the following differences: The rear arm was made in 2 peices, the plate must be bolted to the end of the arm before installeion, then the plate attaches to the rear of the compressor with 2 bolts. The arm will line up with one of the accessory holes on the Edelbrock / PC3 / PC4 intake, but usually requires shimming with washers so that it is not pulled down (pulling the compressor our of square) when the bolts are tightened.
Both versions require the same billet aluminum offset water neck. A few of these kits were sold on e-bay by... not Cad Company (fell off a truck?), without instructions, bolts, or the offset water neck. Offset water necks (and bolt kits) are available individually.

G-body Bolt-In Motor Mount Kit (PDF)
Instructions for installing the Cadillac 472/500/425 engine in a G-body car ('78-'88 Malibu, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Cutlass, Regal, Grand Prix, etc) using our bolt-in motor mount kit.
This instruction sheet is for version 1 (now obsolete), which uses a flat 'T-lock' style Chevy rubber motor mount (such as you might find in a '67 Chevy with a small block).

Aluminum Oil Pan Instructions (PDF)
Instructions for installing the Cad Company finned aluminum rear sump oil pan on your Cadillac 472/500/425 engine.
This instruction sheet is version 3, however, the installation instructions have not changed much across the versions (aside from adding further detail).
Version 3 has a pronounced recess on the passenger's side near the rear, for additional starter clearance. Version 2 and 3 use a very long (4") bolt for the 2 rear bolts, but version 2 does not have the starter recess. On some pans, with some starters (less than 5% of combinations), you may have an interference between the starter and the pan, which can be solved with a little grinding on the starter case or the pan (both are a very thick casing in this area).
Version 1 used the same length bolt all the way around. In rare cases (less than 2% of blocks), the rear main cap is a slightly different shape than the more common version, which interferes with the inside rear of the oil pan. This can be sovled by minor clearancing of the cap (rounding the corners) or clearancing of the pan.
Be aware if buying a used pan (especially if it doesn't look used), that there were some V1 pans that were originally sold as defects, for well below cost (some actually below their scrap value) to folks looking for a deal, which will require a substantial amount of re-work to be used (which the original purchasers were told, but have been known to forget to mention when selling them on e-bay...).
