Block Hugger Headers
These are the classic street rod header.
The collector is in the center of the engine, pointing straight down.

These headers are manufactured using fully CNC mandrel bent thick wall aluminized tubing, TiG welded in a fixture, with 3/8 flanges, that are machined flat after welding for a reliable seal.
They are a mid-length design, with 1 3/4″ primaries and 3″ collectors, designed for optimum performance from stock to performance builds. Higher end builds (over 500 real HP) may benefit from larger tube headers, but the 1 3/4″ headers perform well in most street combinations well into the mid-600-HP range. On most stock and street performance builds, these headers beat anything else available, on the dyno.
Note: These headers are not suitable for most 49-newer applications. Known exceptions: Tri-5 (’55-’57) Chevy cars, most ‘real’ Jeeps (CJ-series), and some 4×4 trucks without a crossmember under the engine.
By definition, ‘block hugger’ headers are a center exit design, pointing straight down, where most modern cars and light trucks have an engine crossmember that will interfere.
Note: The 1 3/4″ version is a Cad Company product, and is substantially tighter to the block, and noticeably better quality, than the 1 7/8″ version available here, or the dirt cheap imported stuff found on e-bay, etc. (not Cad Company products)
